When we made our top seven predictions for the channel this year, No. 1 was that industry’s realization that customer experience is the new battleground – would extend to the channel.
Too often, like the example you see at the beginning of this article, this is not yet the case for a surprising number of leading corporations. They’ve clearly invested time and money to with fantastic dotcom sites for end-users (on the left in the image), yet still have Partner Portals that are years old and in no way reflect the branding and quality of the digital experience they provide on their home page (image on right). This is even more vexing, considering that in the tech market alone, 80 percent of revenue flows through the channel – and partners, not end users, are their true customers.
Fortunately, however, the whiffs of smoke that this trend is indeed catching fire, are starting to appear.
